It's very well looked after and a very good size. We're looking forward to growing lots over the next 12 months!

New project: Project Allotment – Coming soon!

Guess who’s got an allotment?!

The paper work for the new allotment is signed. My brother, Tim, and I are ready to go! We don’t have the allotment yet, but it should be handed over to us by mid November. That gives us some time to get any equipment we need and plans together. It’s our first site so we’ve a lot to learn so we’ll be sharing that as we go.

So, there’s not a lot to add just yet. I’ve taken some photos on our last visit and you’ll see that the site has been very well looked after. There are already some solid strawberry and raspberry crops that I’ve no intention of removing. There’s also a shed and medium sized polytunnell. The current maintainer will be taking some things with him when he goes, so we won’t know exactly what we have until it’s handed over.

With the site being so well looked after, all that’s really to be done is to make it ours. I’ve picked up a few wooden pallets and my wife has bought us a couple of watering cans and some growing equipment to help us to get started.

What kind of posts will we see?

Although we’ve grown a few bits before, we’re both very new to this. We’ll be researching and finding the best ways to get started and get growing.

I’m particularly interested in running some experiments such as exploring results of different pruning techniques, different soil types and maybe even spilling over some work from the electronics projects I do.

Here are a few photos for now. I’ll share more as things develop.
